Where Do Buyers Come From Anyway?

A big part of the business of real estate sales is about getting qualified buyers to see your property. Only when they have seen it can a deal be negotiated. But today, buyers are pressed for time, and they have turned to the internet to find properties of interest, rather than the traditional way of coming to an office and being taken around to properties by an agent.

As you can see at least 77% of buyers come from the internet nowadays - even for many traditional agents. These figures WILL vary from agency to agency. Take note though that one agent told me told me that in 6 years of selling real estate he never had even ONE person just walk in off the street into his office to buy a property. Within the portion labelled "internet" the current reality in Queensland is that 75% of that could probably be labelled "realestate.com.au". And maybe 18% could be labelled "domain.com.au". The others, including for sale by owner or private sale websites, account for a much smaller portion of both traffic and final buyers.
