Newspaper ads might bring in 5-10% of the sales today. They will cost you a lot of money one way or the other.

The problem for private sellers is that they are NOT allowed to use the realestate.com.au portal to sell their property. Private sellers can certainly use certain websites especially created for this purpose, but the reach is not so great. For this reason, many elect after some time to go with agents who charge hefty commissions, because they want their property SOLD. So many times the agent does not need to do too much but take the calls, show the house and sign the papers! Its a very well paid service at times. Maybe TOO well paid.

Then he will pay more when he buys.

2. Market your property at the correct price. If you place the price too high, buyers will not even enquire. After some weeks your property will go "stale" and people will wonder what is wrong with it. So get a realistic market appraisal. Look at recent property price sales in the area. Look at what is currently for sale in your area on leading real estate portals. Be really honest. If you were a buyer who wanted your kind of property, what would you be willing to pay? Sometimes it is worth paying for the services of a registered valuer especially where comparable properties are hard to find. But in a fast moving market, I think a real estate agent could give you a better idea, because valuers have to be conservative.

3. Market your property on the best portal - realestate.com.au. Here is where we can help you. There will be a mere $330 commission payable only on successful settlement if we sell it for you.
